Doing the maintenance on your microcar yourself can be a smart choice instead of always relying on an authorized workshop. Not only can it save you a good amount of money, but it also gives you full control over what work gets done on your vehicle.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to turn off the service light (usually shown as a small wrench icon on the dashboard) after performing a service. The procedure isn’t always obvious, but we’ll guide you through it step by step.
This method applies to most Ligier and Microcar models manufactured after around 2008, including:
-
Ligier X-Too (tested on models with the dashboard located above the steering wheel), IXO, JS50, JS50L, JS60, and similar
-
Microcar M.GO (including Dué models)
Step-by-step: How to Reset the Service Light
-
Sit in the driver’s seat and close the door.
-
Turn the ignition key to the "on" position (right before the start position), then turn it off again.
-
Open the door while remaining seated.
-
Press and hold the left button next to the speedometer. While holding the button, turn the ignition back on. Release the button while the ignition is still on.
-
Turn the ignition off and then back on again. The service light should now be reset.
If the procedure doesn’t work on the first try, simply repeat the steps — sometimes it’s just a matter of getting the timing right.
Note:
Resetting the service light without actually performing the required maintenance is never recommended. Skipping regular service increases the risk of engine wear, breakdowns, and reduced performance. Over time, this can lead to higher fuel consumption and costly repairs that could easily have been avoided with proper maintenance.
