Step-by-step: How to replace the front brake disc and wheel bearing on your microcar
1. Remove the wheel and brake caliper
- Lift the car and remove the four wheel nuts (torque: 45 Nm).
- Remove the wheel.
- Unscrew the central axle nut (torque: 125 Nm).
- Unscrew the two bolts holding the brake caliper (torque: 25 Nm).
- Remove the brake caliper and hang it – avoid putting strain on the brake hose.
2. Free the steering joints, shock absorber & axle
- Loosen the nut on the steering joint (torque: 46 Nm) and use a ball joint extractor toseparate it from the spindle.
- Loosen the nut on the lower control arm ball joint (torque: 46 Nm) and remove it with the ball joint extractor.
- Remove the lower mounting bolt for the shock absorber (torque: 32 Nm). Remove the section of the axle and axle joint attached to the hub and spindle.
- Remove the brake hose bracket and free the shock absorber.
3. Remove the hub and disc
- Pull the entire wheel hub and brake disc from the spindle.
- Separate the brake disc from the hub (four bolts).
- Use a press and a puller to remove the inner and outer wheel bearings.
- Remove any retaining ring (make sure it’s not damaged).
4. Install the new parts
- Press the new wheel bearing into the spindle – check the direction!
- Use threadlocker on the bolts holding the brake disc and brake caliper.
- Install the brake disc onto the hub.
- Reassemble the entire braking system on your microcar in reverse order.
Important torque values in Nm
- Wheel nuts (A): 45 Nm
- Axle nut (C): 125 Nm
- Brake caliper bolts (E): 25 Nm
- Steering joint nut (G): 46 Nm
- Ball joint nut (L): 46 Nm
- Shock absorber mounting screw (O): 32 Nm
Our final tips
✔️ Always ensure that the new bearing is correctly installed before pressing it in.
✔️ Always use threadlocker where recommended.
✔️ Check the direction of the disc – it must not be installed backward.
